SHRAK is a non-governmental organization of amateur radio operators in the Republic of Kosovo. As the only association of its kind in Kosovo, it represents a vital pillar in promoting communications and high-frequency technology in the country. It supports its members with technical issues and represents them before national and international authorities and institutions.
Initially founded in 2000, it could not become active immediately due to the lack of a designated country code. In August 2008, the government of the Republic of Kosovo decided to use the prefix Z6 for its entire geographical area. Transmission began in September 2012. The series of Z6 call signs used by Kosovo is not approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the only internationally recognized organization that deals with the technical aspects of telecommunications worldwide.
SHRAK is a member of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU Region 1), the international federation of amateur radio societies, and represents the interests of the country's amateur radio operators.
