How Open Source Enabled Fresha to Become a Better Product Company

Over the past year, Fresha completely revamped its data platform, building its new real-time foundations around open source technologies. The result is a data platform capable of powering sub-second analytical dashboards for our customers, built with technologies including Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, StarRocks, and others. But the technology itself is only part of the story. In this talk, I’ll share the journey behind the platform: how we started, the challenges that shaped our architecture, and how open source influenced the decisions we made along the way. I’ll also explore what it means to build a product on top of open source — from relying on projects we believe in, to contributing back when we encountered problems, gaps, or opportunities to make them better.
