CEO Ura Design
Elio is the founder and executive director of Ura Design, certified in UX and Product Design by the Nielsen Norman Group and MIT.
He specialises in UX, product design, and branding, working with organisations in the free software and privacy space, including Canonical (Ubuntu), Mozilla, the University of Michigan, Freedom of the Press Foundation, and The Tor Project.
Since 2018, he’s served as UX partner for the Open Technology Fund, building brand systems and design tools still in use today.

Print, Poke, and Patch: A Hands-On Government UX & Security Hackathon
In this hackathon, participants team up to put a real government website under the microscope, not with code, but with printouts, sticky notes, and a critical eye. We’ll print out live screens from a public-sector website (forms, logins, consent flows) and physically annotate them to uncover where design fails citizens: confusing language, misleading trust cues, and interfaces that quietly push people toward unsafe choices.
